The original Company was incorporated on August 14, 1954 under the laws of New York as the "Truckmen's Insurance Company",
which began business on October 1, 1954.
The administrative offices, located in Manhattan, moved to its own building at 20 Main Street, Hempstead, NY.
The present name, "State-Wide Insurance Company",
was adopted September 24, 1956.
A former wholly-owned subisdiary, Banner Casualty Company
(activated January 1, 1971),
was absorbed by merger on November 18, 1976.
